Giving Back

NWFA has established relationships with charitable organizations representing long-term commitments to initiatives benefiting each organization. These collaborations provide NWFA and its members with opportunities to engage in service in their own communities, helping those in need, while promoting the benefits and uses of wood flooring, and their own businesses.

NWFA is honored to partner with the following organizations:

NWFA Education & Research Foundation (NERF) Scholarship Program

NERF provides scholarships to help educate future generations of wood flooring professionals. Thanks to the generosity of our members, NWFA awarded more than $6,250 in 2016 and $10,000 in 2017. Your donations are contributing to individuals’ futures and helping them advance their careers. Help us to advance the industry by improving wood flooring knowledge and hands-on skills for the next generation of craftspeople by donating to NERF.

Gary Sinise Foundation

GSF provides wounded veterans and their families with the resources necessary to overcome their new life challenges. NWFA has partnered with GSF to provide wood flooring and installation services for custom-build Smart Homes through the GSF RISE (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment) program. To date, NWFA members have been involved in more than 59 homes to benefit wounded veterans. NWFA thanks the following members for their support of GSF RISE and invites all members to get involved in this nationwide effort to honor and serve our wounded veterans.

The Little Bit Foundation

LBF serves impoverished children in St. Louis city to remove barriers to learning and empower at-risk students to pursue their dreams. NWFA staff members volunteer at LBF every other Friday to improve our community. In addition, during the holiday season, NWFA sent more than 500 pairs of socks gathered in a sock drive from NWFA students, instructors, and staff who gave at headquarters.

Hardwood Forest Foundation

The Hardwood Forest Foundation, founded in 1989, provides responsible forestry education throughout the U.S. and Canada, with the support of its parent organization, the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA). Its Truth About Trees elementary education presentation kit is available to NWFA members to use in their own community classrooms. The lesson plan, with wood products, videos, games and a coloring book, is designed to provide an easy way to teach K-6 students the benefits of properly harvesting trees.

Hardwood Federation

The Hardwood Federation works on behalf of the hardwood industry in Washington, D.C., to ensure our voice is heard in Congress. The Hardwood Federation and the Hardwood Federation PAC rely on our donations to operate and safeguard our interests.
