FSC Toolkit for Hardwood Sawmills
Working with the partners of the RPP program, NWFA and the Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers, Inc. have created a FSC Toolkit for Hardwood Sawmills designed to assist U.S. hardwood sawmills for successful audits to the FSC Chain of Custody Standard (FSC-STD-40-004) as well as to the FSC Controlled Wood Standard (FSC-STD-40-005). This is the only tool available in the marketplace that combines all of the reference material necessary for meeting FSC standards in one document, creating a one-stop reference guide. Due to the complexity of the topic, this toolkit has been broken down into chapters ordered in a logical sequence for most users. Our intent was to provide an all-inclusive resource, but keep in mind, not all information is needed for all mills. For example, companies that are not interested in getting certified to the FSC Controlled Wood standard can ignore those components. State-level Controlled Wood risk assessments are available for Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia and are available on request.
