Technical Schools
The NWFA's technical schools were developed to assist wood flooring
professionals in advancing their skills and expertise in all aspects of wood
flooring installation.

One-Day Workshops
More one-day workshops will be scheduled soon. Thanks to those who supported and attended the recent Bamboo/Strand workshop in Las Vegas.

Jigs and Medallions
This 3-day Jigs & Medallions Workshop provides hands-on training to produce a “sliding table saw jig” and “circle jig” you can use to reproduce several medallions and install them. Take home one circle jig, one sliding table saw jig, two complete medallions, master pieces for two medallions. Students will leave with the ability to draw and reproduce most straight line medallions. Prerequisite is 3 years experience and previous attendance at an NWFA school. Earn 3 NWFA Degree credits.

Wood Flooring Basics
The Wood Flooring Basic four-day School is designed to provide a comprehensive entry-level overview of installation, sand & finish. This will also include engineered, solid, parquet, both prefinished and unfinished. Topics include water & wood, wood properties and job site preparation. Demos include safety, center lay out, racking, nail guns and sanding & finish equipment.
Students receive 3 NWFA Degree credits.

Sub-Floor Prep/Solid & Pre-finished Installation
The three-day School provides hands-on training for subfloor preparation on both concrete and wood, plus solid installation and pre-finished installation over concrete and wood. Topics include: self-levelers for concrete, moisture control systems for concrete and wood subfloors, moisture testing of concrete and wood subfloors, solid plank over concrete, pre-finished installation over concrete and wood, adhesives, nail down options, correcting wood subfloors. Students earn 3 NWFA Degree credits.

Intermediate Installation and Sand & Finish
This School provides different topics and hands-on training opportunities. Sharpen your installation skills (job site evaluation & prep, installation techniques, safety, custom design procedures, and medallion demonstrations). Sanding & finishing skills includes hands-on sanding and finishing of custom floors. Learn finishing techniques like the repair & recoat of exiting floors, board replacement, and hand scraping. Earn 3 NWFA Degree credits for full session. NOTE PER DAY PRICING AVAILABLE

Four-day school is designed to prepare wood flooring professionals to take the NWFACP Certified Inspector exam. Topics will include report forms, performance standards, moisture, grades, manufacturer-specific issues, sand & finish, installation, bond-fasteners, report writing, & expert witness. On day-five there is the option to take the NWFA CP Inspector Certification Test.

Advanced Installation
The three-day Advanced Installation School is designed to provide extensive hands-on training utilizing a variety of specialized tools, techniques and technologies. Topics include: borders, medallions and inlays, parquet, mixed media, metal inlay, slide jig demo,
custom job estimating, specialty tools and sanding /finishing techniques.
Prerequisite includes three (3) years experience and previous attendance at an NWFA school. Students earn four (4) NWFA Degree credits.

Wood Flooring Commercial Inspection School
This four-day school is designed to prepare wood flooring professional to take the NWFACP Certified Commercial Inspector exam. Topics will include concrete subfloors, wood subfloors, other subfloors (vinyl, ceramic, tile, marble, steel, terrazzo), moisture meters, moisture testing, leveling/preparation, moisture migration, commercial floors, installation methods, adhesives, protection and trade damage, architects/designers, maintenance, finishes, conduct, and report writing.

Wood Flooring Commercial Inspection School & Test
This 4-day school prepares wood flooring professionals for the NWFACP Certified Commercial Inspector exam. On the final day, take the NWFACP Commercial Inspector Test, a 3-hour open-book written exam based on instructor presentations. Expert Installation
The 5-day Expert Installation School provides hands-on training for highly experienced wood flooring professionals. Students will design and install a custom wood floor. Prerequisites include previous attendance at NWFA Advanced installation school. Topics include: Building custom jigs, cutting taper boards, cutting parquet/medallions, bending wood, installing on a radius, free-hand routing, marquetry/inlays, job costing.
Students earn 4 NWFA Degree credits.

Expert Sand & Finish
This 3-day Expert Sand & Finish school provides hands-on training for highly experienced wood flooring professionals. Prerequisites include 3 years industry experience and previous attendance at NWFA Installation Sand & Finish School. Topics include: sanding/finishing custom mixed media; hand brushing/rubbing/rolling finish/ faux painting, repair of damaged boards; custom mixing/blending stains and hand scraping. Students earn 4 NWFA Degree credits.
